Friendship Games

Friendship games, held in LA was a very big event for Filipinos. Friendship games is like a competition on random games with people from all different schools around California. The groups come from different Filipino groups in many different colleges. SJSU won the over all of games. After the event most people go to this club on Disney land way and party the night away. One of my greatest experiences of college.

Ma'boo'hay

Ma'boo'hay was a very funny and entertaining event. I went with Ansel and we saw a couple famous people there such as AM KIDD, AJ Rafael, Gabe Bondoc, Leejay Abucayan, Passion, DNH and many SJSU groups. The event was to show the talent we as Filipinos have and we are proud of our country. They had many people perform and we all had a great time. The event was very entertaining to see and listen to all the performers.

Group work workshop

The Group work workshop was very interesting. The workshop taught us ways to get along and how to use each other to get more info and help each other get a great grade. They described steps to group work. They were #1 get to know each other. #2 Choose group members wisely. #3 activity participate. #4 Don’t monopolize the group. #5 Be respectful of each other. #6 Learn about the strengths of your group. #7 Set a clear time line. #8 Practice as a group before presentations. #9 Group projects are practice for the job world. #10 Work around conflicting schedules.

Homesickness

Homesickness workshop was a very interesting workshop. They introduced many different reasons why we may have homesickness. They demonstrated the ways you can avoid homesickness such as going out and having fun with friends and webcam your family. The explained the types of homesickness which are possession of their belongings. Many people explained what they missed and some where objects and some people said family but there are many ways that they explained how to get rid of homesickness. I learned many ways that I am able to keep in touch with my family and am able to not be home sick.

Interview with senior and peer mentor

The Interview with the senior was very helpful because the senior answered many of the questions I had that had to do with my major and how they picked their major. The peer mentor helped out by telling us ways we can handle college and pass our classes.

Ch. 12 ( Your Journal)

Chapter 12 Exploring careers shows many ways i can find the right career. There are many ways i can be able to find a career in what i love to do. I have not decided what want to be yet but i am trying to set goals and trying many other things to find my strengths and weaknesses. I have had part time jobs and i have much experiences with people but still i am unsure of what i would like to do as a career.

Ch. 12 ( Know yourself)

Chapter 12 Exploring Careers explains many ways you can find out what you can do for a career. Your career choice depends on your skills and weaknesses. evaluating yourself will help you figure out what you want to do. Your personality must link to your career choice. some ways to help find out what you like to do would be to get a part time, summer job or a internship. setting goals also helps on deciding what you want to do.

I have learned i need to do my work and manage money. I learned the hard way because with my last job i spent all of my money on my car and now i have barely any money to spend. I just have enough. I needed to think of the future and save my money in my account.

Chapter 11 has taught me how to manage my money. I also started to think into the future. I should balance my money and be smart where i put it. I also was reminded to save my money. I also had a job in which i received money but i did learn to save it the hard way. I ended up spending all of my money from my last pay check. I also learned to use credit cards correctly and pay off all the bills at the end of the month.

The Video project was very fun and challenging. The hardest part was the fact that the camera was missing some parts. Other than that, The short video was a success. We all had a very good experience creating this short video.

My diet has changed every week. For a couple weeks my diet was just eating anything anytime i want. Some times its just hard to get food because of my schedule. I do need to eat more because i am skinny. Stress can be very strong in my life but i do over come stress when i need to by either doing something i love or deal with what im stressing about

My Physical health is very well. I have been very good with working out every week. Sometimes i don't get enough sleep. My eating habits change every week. I don't do drugs or smoke. I am very careful with my sexual decisions. My mentality is very good and not depressing at all.

How to succeed in test taking Ch.8

Ways to succeed in test raking is to study, be prepared, and know what to expect. In my life i have had many tests. I have experienced studying for tests. Tests are just questions to test how much you know but as a student and need to pass, I have experienced many different ways to study. and i have also learned to study and not blow it off till the last minute because they you don't have time to study.

This chapter has many ways to show you how to study and how to get it in your head without having to cram the day before. You must learn on how to study in time and how to not wait till the last minute.

Campus moviefest

Last week i went to the campus movie fest with my friends/ roommates. At the Morris Daily auditorium, the played many short films made by the students. The video i liked was "Kids". "Kids" was about a guy who had to take a shit. The guy was on the way to the bathroom and his friend called. The main character told his friend he was going to Drop the kids off at the pool" in other words, he is going to take a shit. He goes to the bathroom and he ran out of toilet paper and had a conversation with another dude because he needed toilet paper. After he used the bathroom his girlfriend calls and asks if he has kids because she heard from a friend that he had kids.

Ch. 7 Enhance your study skills and memory

Chapter 7 explains how to study successfully. The chapter goes into detail on where to study, when to study and what to study. Where to study explains the condition and how the place is; somewhere that you are comfortable and not distracted. When to study is to review and to listen to your body. What to study depends on Blooms Taxonomy.

The second part of Chapter 7 explains the basic skills of studying. How to know the basics of humanities, science, math, social sciences, and foreign languages. At the end, The chapter goes over ways to improve your memory such as memorization and tricks to memorizing things. Some ways are songs, rhyming and acronyms. You can also study in groups to help each other out because they are all learning from each other.

Through Ch. 5 i have learned many ways to get information and how to do it correctly. I have also learned to think critically, "think in and outside the box". There are many ways to make good decisions and and avoiding making bad choices. You must think of the consequences and why and how will this affect me in the future. I have understood many ways to find the right solutions and how i can improve my decisions in life. I have also learned to ask questions. Asking questions helps because asking questions gets you answers and more information. "Knowledge is power"

Your Guide to college success Ch. 4 (Journal/Know yourself)

From this chapter i have thought of the ways i learn. I believe i learn the best by Tactile or Kinesthetic learning because when i do learn about something i must touch and see things to see how they work. An example is how i work on cars and i learn how they work by physically fixing things myself. I can be a visual learner but i found that i learn more when i physically do and touch the object. dealing with my instructors i must get used to their teaching style and make it work with my learning style.

Self Expression (My Journal Ch.9)

Ch.9 Express yourself has taught me ways to improve my self expression in my writing and speech. I need to work on my organization because i don;t put things in the right place, then nothing makes sense. Expressing myself while speaking in ways such as speaking louder and being confident of what im trying to tell everyone.

Self expression in your writing and verbal communication is very important because people need to understand you. In my writing, I've noticed i can be very misunderstood because i jump all over the place and don't stick to one subject. In other words im not very organized. i must also pick one topic because sometimes i tend to talk about more than one and start to ramble. In speaking to others i must speak louder and try to connect with my audience.

Cant wait! my 1987 mustang gt 5.0 is in process. the clutch is being replaced and getting it maintained. It needs a oil change and tune up. This is my next project. I already named her Snow White. going from a 1.6L sohc honda engine with no torque, to a 5.0L V8 Ford Mustang engine with all torque! can't wait!

R.I P Midnight (98 honda civic)

8/6/09 My Stolen 98 civic. she was stolen in front of my house in Daly City and 2 days later ended up in Sacramento. i put a lot of money into that car, basically my life. So the story goes, I've had a blown head gasket already but i drove it around a lot even though it was messed up. The last time i drove the car was a couple days before it was stolen. i took the car to livermore to go to a party. i drove that car as if it was my last time driving it because it had a blown head gasket. It sat in front of my house for a couple days because i was sick. Finally for street cleaning i decided to to move it down the hill. the next morning, i find my car missing. We notify the daly city police and file reports and all that. and we find the car stripped up in Sacramento. I'm surprised it made it to Sacramento

Muse Class

Today in class we talked about the scavenger hunt. We went over most of the answers and some of our classmates won the scavenger hunt. They won a book and a Ethernet cable wire. We then discussed how we would react to a professor who you do not agree with or he or she has said something wrong. Most of us responded to talk to his/ her in person after class but you could also raise you hand and start a argument during class. we then played an ice breaker called "I love my neighbor".

Mime in Muse class

In our muse class we did an activity that we had to act like a mime and mirror our partners move. We all fooled around and just did random things at first but after the second or 3rd time we started to connect and laugh and have fun. We needed to connect and use body language to communicate. We just opened up and did things we would not normally do. Then we started to stretch. and it got easier to do

Communication is very important. Communication is used in our everyday lives. We can talk with our mouths and speak in different languages. We can also communicate through body language such as hand movements or even using your entire body. Waving can say hi or bye to anyone. Communication can also be used through words or even drawings. Before
languages were created, people drew and used pictures to communicate. Communication is very important when it comes to many people

Time is very important to keep track of. Time is very important when it comes to being on time or doing things based on a schedule. In the real world, most things are based on time such as school, work and many other things that involve time. If you manage your time, everything is a lot easier and you don't rush. if you do your homework early you don't have to rush later on.

MLK Library Tour

The Martin Luther King Library tour has shown me many ways to research and find information on many subjects. I found it interesting on how the library is able to get any books from different libraries. There are many helpful websites and databases that can help a student when writing an essay. Helpful websites such as Refworks and citationlinker can help you cite your sources. The library is a very studious place. There are entire floors made for studying and researching. There are silent and quiet rooms. A member is also able to rent a laptop for four hours. The library is a great place to study because a dorm room or house may be too loud or distracting.

Labor day weekend

Labor day weekend i went to a lot of parties. San jose has parties everywhere. A lot of people went home for the weekend but i stayed and found parties. This weekend was one of th best i've had in a long time

Back to school

Today was a very long day. It was very hard to wake up because im not used to waking up this early. My first class was at 8 am today. I had 2 clases today which were not that bad in terms of length.

My roomate and I face challenges each day, but somehow we get through the challenges. My roomate is also from San Francisco and we have very similar characteristics. We also respect each other and their space. we ask each other before we even touch any of each others property. If one person wants to sleep, i will move into the other room and be very quiet so he can sleep.

My values will help me get through college because i understand how hard it is to pay for anything these days. I worked at Safeway for a while, it was not an easy job. School is very expensive and i understand what my parents do for me to be successful in college. School is very important because school will help you network and learn very important necessities to achieve in the real world.

If i were to talk to a student in high school and give them advice of the importance of setting goals, planning and monitoring progress in college, I would tell them that you really need to balance their time. Time management is very important because most of the work in college is done outside of the class unlike high school. A goal is also needed to be able to reach for and get when you graduate college.

Responsibility for my Success and failures are a work in progress. When I am very successful i tend to fall behind because i believe that i am ahead so i stop doing work. When i fail, I can be determined to fix the grade but then again I feel like i can just make it up later which doesn't work in college. I need to work on my responsibility on success and Failures.

I do know a person who has very low self esteem. I believe they should think of somthing there good at or change their idea of what people think of them. If you believe that people like you then it will happen, but if they still dont like you, just dont care about what other people say about you.

Good Morning

good morning everyone, This is my first blog and i'm not entirely sure what to do but here is what i got for you today. I am a freshman at San Jose State University and i recently moved on campus. I am very excited about the "college life". College for the first week has been very fun and i have been able to learn a lot about myself, others and college in general. My classes have been very helpful with review, and I look back and think "I really needed this when i was taking my SAT's". I have been able to go to all the classes and meet so many people. My earliest class is at 8 am, which could or could not be early to some of you, but im used to waking up around 11 am. I dont have much to say, and thanks for reading. have a nice day
